Sea of Monsters Trailer

We have 2 months to wait before the second Percy Jackson movie comes out!!!! I am so excited about Sea of Monsters. The trailer is epic and I was so excited to see Grover again. He is awesome and I adore him <3 Also did you notice that they fixed the whole Annabeth issue? Well I did and I couldn't be happier with the change.

For those of you who don't know. A lot of the fans of the book were upset because the director if the Lightning Thief left Alexandra Daddario's hair brown when in the books her hair is blonde. As a blonde myself this really irritated me. Blondes in movies are typically stupid airheads. I was so excited to see a strong, kick-ass, blonde in a popular movie. Then it didn't happen. But the director and producers listened to the fans and had the actress dye her hair for the second movie.

Additionally, from the look of the trailer, they made the movie look a lot darker and more serious than the Lightning Thief which makes me very happy. So what do you guys think of the trailer? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Beautiful Creatures Review!

Hello readers!!

I know I have been a terrible blogger lately and for that I am so sorry. I am working on being better :)
To get back into the swing of things I bring you my thoughts on Beautiful Creatures.

On Goodreads this book has gotten a lot of mixed reviews and I understand why. Going into this book I had high expectations about it. All of the book bloggers I watch on YouTube loved it, it seemed like my type of book and I couldn't wait to start reading it. However, around page 200 or so I realized the pace of the book was not going to pick up. It just drugggggg on and on. The ending, however, was so unexpected and AMAZING! it just took for everrrr to get there.

If you are not familiar with Beautiful Creatures then here is a brief synopsis:

Nothing new ever happens in the small southern town of Gatlin, South Carolina. At least until the Boo Radley of Gatlin comes into town. Lena Duchannes is mysterious, troubled, and the worst thing you can possibly be in Gatlin, different. Everyone in town automatically hates her. Everyone except Ethan Wate. Ethan has been longing to get out of Gatlin for years. When he meets Lena she is like a breath of fresh air. Her mystery and secrets introduce Ethan to a side of Gatlin he never dreamed could exist. But as Lena nears her 16th birthday, the secrets of Gatlin, the Duchannes', and the Wates are exposed leaving Lena and Ethan changed forever.

Sounds good right? Well it is. The plot line is fantastic! It's mysterious, unique, and the ending will have you at the edge of your seat. The southern setting is rich and full of interesting characters. Our protagonist, Ethan, is so funny and lovable. I just want to be friends with him. He is adorable and slowly turning into one of my favorite literary male characters.

The problem I had with the book was the pacing. Right when the plot should speed up, it continues to creep along. If the plot wasn't so interesting I wouldn't have made it through. I also think I would have enjoyed this book more if I was around 15-17. Some parts are written in a more juvenile way, but it may be the age of the main characters (15-16). However, I am still excited to continue the series. Fingers crossed that the pacing improves with the series.

Summary:

Stars: 3.5 out of 5
Pacing: Horrible
Plot: Amazing!

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon

Have you missed me? I know I've missed all of you! Blame college and major life changes :)

Anyway I am back to tell you all about the read-a-thon I will be participating in tomorrow! It is called the Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon. Dewey's holds two a year in April and in October. The one for April starts tomorrow (April 27th) at Midnight! GET EXCITED PEOPLE!!

I am currently reading Beautiful Creatures *cue awesome music with trumpets*. ITS SO GOOD!!! I am close to half-way and ahhh it's just a fun, romantic, adventurous read. If I finish that book, I will start the next book in the Caster's Chronicles: Beautiful Darkness.

Hello everyone. TWLOHA's had to make some changes to the Barnes and Noble Book fair schedule so here is the updated flyer. I really hope a lot of you can come and support the group! As the flyer says there will be live acoustic music so you should at least come and check that out!

I am sorry I haven't been posting a lot. To be honest with you all, I haven't been reading all that much. A certain boy has a little to do with that, but pure mental exhaustion from school is the main reason. The soonest I can post a new review will be in early April. Also, my birthday is April 5th so I will for sure be posting a book haul for you all! I'm thinking about doing that as a video since it will be so big. That way I can also talk a little more about each book and things like that.

Until then I have a few ideas up my sleeve so as always stay tuned :)

TWLOHA Barnes and Noble Bookfair

For anyone in the High Point, NC area, you should try to attend the TWLOHA book fair. The event will start with a reading from Ned Vizzini's "It's Kind of a Funny Story". After that we will have a discussion about mental health, relationships, depression and anxiety, eating disorders and body image and will close with a live acoustic session with Ryan Dillon. 

If you aren't familiar with TWLOHA, the organizations basic mission is to promote an understanding of depression, anxiety, self-harm, and create a support group for any suffering individuals. I am proud to be a part of our University Chapter.
